I'm a descendant of slaves currently living in Marshall Texas, USA. Regardless of that fact, I am curiously interested in the British ancestors of the American line that planted that name in East Texas. I have read that the name Moseley (including all derivatives) was from the West Midlands area of England(or Britain?) whichever is correct. Thank you

Colin,

Thank you for that information which helps fill in some gaps.

I have added Samuel and Eliza to the tree, but before adding Moses, do you have documentary evidence for his family? It appears from the above that he died aged about 30, having been married only a short time, yet was father to at least six children..

I'd be delighted to add much more regarding your Renshaw line if we can verify specific details. If I can help please let me know.

Regards
Martin

Good Morning, I live in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales in Australia and am related to Albert Renshaw who appears in your family tree married to Sarah Bagnall.

For your information:

Albert was one of nine children born to Samuel Renshaw born 26/8/1831 in Woodthorpe Derbyshire and Eliza Walker born 1833 in Elescar, Derbyshire.

Samuel was the 6th Child of Moses Renshaw born 1766 died 1796 (Born Woodthorpe) and Martha Turner. Moses and Martha were married 24 Feb 1795.

Moses Renshaw was the 5th Son of Thomas Renshaw born 1724 in Derbyshire and Elizabeth Brailsford born 1721 in Staveley Derbyshire.Thomas and Elizabeth ere maried in 1748 in Sutton cum Duckmanton, Derbyshire. We believe that Elizabeth's father may have been Thomas Brailsford of Derby (benefactor 1711) as Elizabeth is recorded as a benefactor of Derby in 1794.

                                   Regards,

                                  Colin Renshaw
